Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, recently appointed as festival director of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), has unveiled plans to expand the 55-year-old Goa-based event’s scope. Plans include the launch of a Waves, a technology-focused companion to the main festival.
Principal photography for the forthcoming romantic drama kicked off over a week ago in Ghana's capital city, Accra. Produced by Edith Nwekenta, the star-studded romantic drama is set to follow the story of a woman who sets out on a self discovery journey to the motherland from Atlanta. ADVERTISEMENT
In the lead role is Hollywood actress LisaRaye McCoy. She stars alongside Brely Evans, Sika Osei, Erica Pinkett, Osas Ighodaro, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, Toyin Abraham, Mawuli Gavor, Ayinna Nwigwe and Eddie Watson Jnr.

Like so many young, college-educated Americans, New Orleans-based rapper Dee-1 found himself facing a mountain of student debt after graduation. For a while he’d make the minimum payment each month, until he got a record deal and used part of his advance to finish paying Sallie Mae back completely.
Then, he decided to write a song about it. This month, he posted the music video on Facebook, where it has racked up more than a million views.

Walking into the Eddie Rodriguez store in Miami’s Dadeland mall feels like stepping into 1950s Havana. That’s because Cuban-born Rodriguez, a former president and creative director of Wilke-Rodriguez menswear, is tapping into the current craze for Latin-inspired fashion with a new lifestyle label produced in association with the Men’s Wearhouse. His stores (there are six in the U.S.) sell casual clothing for men and women in their 30s and 40s and are designed to evoke pre-Castro Cuba, complete with carved wood and bamboo details, salsa music and free Cuban coffee.
