I lived in Houston for a little over 10 years in the 1990s where most every house and apartment was equipped with at least two window units. If your house lacks a central cooling system, a window unit is an excellent choice for bringing some cool into your sometimes sweaty life. I currently live in NYC where, thanks to concrete, blacktop, and global warming, summers can be both oppressively hot and humid—yes, I have an AC unit perched in the window of my pre-war apartment.
Jung Kook launched his first major solo single, “Seven,” at the stroke of midnight ET Friday morning, as promised. It came with a surprise that was unpromised: the appearance of one of the hottest female rappers of our day, Latto, making a featured appearance on the track. The lyrics talk about some hot action that is due to go down between the two, but the music, however, high-energy, feels deeply chill.
I’m just going to come out and say that Father’s Day makes me a little uncomfortable. Ambivalent. Always did as a kid: “Sweet! A new opportunity to disappoint as a son!” And it still sits uneasy now that I’m a dad. What’s the big deal? I had kids. So too, statistically speaking, do most grownups at some point.
I never know what I’m supposed to do. Spend more time with my girls?
Picking a camera to take on the road isn't easy: Kodak, Konica, Nikon and the rest compete furiously with multiple product lines and trot out new features every few months. But for travel snapshots, we're partial to the Canon series of point-and-shoots particularly the Powershot SD1100IS, an 8-megapixel ultra-light with image stabilization, face recognition and a vestigial viewfinder for quick snaps. The camera is smaller than a pack of cards and shuts down tighter than the Batmobile perfect for slipping unobtrusively into a jeans pocket.
